5/9 Hey Dance Campers--Don't Forget Dessert!

Dancing and dessert--the two go together so well! Help support our wonderful Dance Camp by bringing a delicious dessert to Camp. Desserts will be sold to hungry Bears during the dances for $3 for a generous portion. Along with your dancing shoes, pack a special dessert that will delight other Campers, keep our feet dancing and support this great event. Decadent Desserts can be brought in pre-wrapped in Bear-sized portions (or we will do the wrapping) and delivered to Elsa in the Dining Hall on Friday. Cookies, pies and cakes are all welcome. Hint: chocolate is a favorite among Bears. All proceeds go back to Camp, so help keep our feet dancing!

5/2 Clean Up Help Needed

So Far 6 people have volunteered their Saturday for Dance Camp clean up. We need more!

Please consider this community service for Saturday, May 19th. You get first choice of cabins, some interesting and connecting conversations with fellow bears and a nice lunch! No promises on the weather, but usually spring/summer is readily apparent!

Contact Jennifer Hall Jones at jhj@gci.net or 345-3652.

From Laurie Lyons: For those of you who have never joined in on cleaning up - it is actually fun (it's true!), it is added time at camp (Hooray!!), and I believe you get first choice of which cabin you want to stay in! And if you have never been to camp (currently signed up or not), it is the perfect opportunity to check things out and have a better idea of things that you might be wondering.
Please join us! The more the merrier!

May 19th is the date. Plan on some great company, good eats and an easy conscience because you will have participated in one of the very necessary chores for making another memorable weekend at King's Lake.

NAME BUTTON PARTY

Dancing Bears is proud to be a holdout in the digital age: we still hand-color our name buttons for dance camp and they are collector's items! If you have coveted one of these little beauties that someone else is wearing on the dance floor, here is your chance to own one!! Even if you are not planning to attend dance camp, you can help color, socialize, and be the owner of a name button.
Come to our button party on Wednesday, May 16, 5:30-9:30, at David Bates' house, 2027 Hillcrest Drive, on the corner of Hillcrest and Forest Park, just west of West Anchorage High School. There will be pizza for the hungry, art supplies for the creative, and a button machine for the mechanically-inclined. Something for everyone. We crunch out about 150 buttons, and you can pick out your favorite if you are there!! Wear it proudly. Even if you only have an hour or so, please join us!

Questions? Call Robyn or Bill at 245-1634.

Subscribe to the Dancing Bears’ Listserv to be Up To Date on Dance Camp News!

If you are not on our Dancing Bears’ Listserv, we recommend that you consider joining it! And if you know of any folks who aren't and who might be interested in keeping abreast of the Dance Camp news as it happens we ask that you encourage them to sign up for the listserv. We will post all the latest info on Camp to the listserv and we would hate for anyone to miss some significant tidbit because of not being a listserv member. Signing up is easy: just go to the Bears' Website at www.thedancingbears.org and you will find, on the home page, a place to "Subscribe to Listserver". Clicking on that box will get you to another box in which to type your email address (even if it says it your email address is invalid, just pop in your address and hit "Try Again"-and it should work just fine. We're working on fixing the link so it won't nag, but for now, just trust the "Try Again" option.) It is also easy to remove your name from the list after Camp should you not want to continue to receive dance related emails throughout the year.
